1. My workplace is called Eden Computer Clubhouse. They are a after school program for kids to have fun on computers and studios.

Blog #2: My Mentor

    I'm not sure what my mentors full name is so I just call him Mr. Martin. Their typical day at work is pretty simple. He is in his office most of the time working on some sort of business related type things. Mr. Martin became interested in starting a business of his own and keeping it steady. Sometimes, I see him in the back doing hair while I am in the office.

Blog #3: My Role

    My main responsibility is just to learn about how to run and and sustain a business. My mentor keeps me in check on all the different calls there is to make and the different papers. The other tasks I am completing each week is learning how to keep things in order. My mentor says that it is better to have focus once there is neatness and organization. Once I get there I say good morning to everyone then straight into the office and ask my mentor to tell me what the continued assignment is and after I get half of work done, I have a lunch break. After that it's right back into the office until the end of the day.

Blog #4: Project Brainstorm

    My thoughts for the project is basically combining the function of video graphics and music audio design. Another idea my mentor brought up is presenting a youths voice thing. He is going to explain more about it to us but right now I am working on the music background part of it. We were experimenting with some subjects that has caused a conversation in the world. I am excited because I am actually doing something interesting and different on computers and explore what I can really do. For the next three or four weeks, my mentor is going to bring in a video of the situation so we can get more information.

Blog #5:Progress on WLE project:

    At my internship, we talked more on the project and planning. Me and my mentor talked about the different programs/softwares we can use to actually get famiilar. On accomplishments, I have'nt been really doing that much other than getting familiar with the program were using and understanding the conflict.

Blog #6:Leadership Skills

    The leadership I am using the most is Completing Projects Effectively because I am planning and completing all my work effectively.
I am using this leadership skill well because When I get there, I am going straight to work with no distractions. I think I could improve on this leadership skill by doing little by little because I don't want to do so much and get overwhelmed. This leadership skill helps me do my work by getting all my papers organized and also can help me in the future with alot more difficult tasks. The leadership skill my mentor uses the most is communicate powerfully because he makes sure I get all the information and sticks to the plan.

 

Blog #7: What I learned, Reflection

What  I learned about myself from this WLE experience is that I can use my creative talents to make something unique. I am using my musical talents and mixing in with video and that is something I never mixed before. The challenges that I faced during this experience is that time it took to mix them all together. I had to find alot of clips to match the music. For example, If there was an intense part of the scene, I had to find a track that matched that same intensity and build it up. The passion I learned from this experience is finding how to basically make a political music video and I am liking it alot so far. I think this is something I am going to use alot in the future. My creativity of using music and audio design went perfectly well with video/multimedia because it is something that more commonly used. At my internship there is alot of kids and they look at the things I am doing and thing that it's interesting and inspires them to try something new. Before, I didn't believe that I could mix music and video by myself and now I do. The specific skills I practiced is finding different genres of music and combining them all together into a video. If someones were to ask me why what I did at my WLE was important. I would say that I learned alot of new things, music wise that I could use in the future and also use some of those things for other issues in the community. This will affect my future because I can choose to try something different and that will come up alot in life.

Blog #8: Professionalism

In order to find my WLE and get hired I had to search early and get as many contacts as I could just in case as a back-up plan if those don't work out. Once I get confirmation then I am ready to go. The most effecient way of looking for a job and getting hired is being professional. Once you introduce yourself and see how professional you are, they will give you some serious consideration. As a result of my WLE, I think being a professional or a responsible adult in the work world means that it is a sign of maturity. Others see how well you can be on your own , they will treat you different, more of as a young adult.

Blog #9:Life at my WLE

Today, I worked on doing the last finishing touches on my project and presentation. I have improved as an intern by just trying different things that may seem too difficult. My workplace has alot of energy and supportive members and it is easier to work in that enviroment.

I feel I learned alot at my WLE and trying new things that I can use alot in life. This will affect me for next year by just thinking to try different things that may seem hard or difficult.
